Corona virus (Covid-19) which first spread in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and later spread to various countries, was declared as epidemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020. The virus has now infected more than 294,000 people in 186 countries including Indonesia.
Since the Indonesian government announced the country’s first 2 (two) people infected with Covid-19 on March 2, 2020, around 20 days later or March 23, 2020, there were 579 people infected with the virus, with DKI Jakarta as the epicenter followed by other regions, such as Banten, West Java, Central Java and East Java.
The government has responded by forming the Public Health Emergency Operating Center (PHEOC) at the Ministry of Health on February 27, 2020 as well as recently brought 105 thousand personal protective equipment (PPE) and 3 million of Chloroquine drugs that will be distributed to a number of regions in Indonesia. Last but not least, Wisma Athlete in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta was also converted into an emergency hospital for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.
The government, through President Joko Widodo, has called for physical distancing (previously known as social distancing) since March 15, 2020 with their campaign to "work from home, study from home, and worship at home" to prevent the further spread of the virus. The term social distancing was changed to physical distancing by the WHO on March 23, 2020 since they wanted to recommend 'physical distance' rather than 'social distance'. WHO still encourages people to stay socially connected through social media or online.
With #DirumahAja (stay at home), the government is trying to make people keep their physical distance with a minimum of 2 meters between each other. In addition, physical distancing also means avoiding crowds of people. The objective of this is to anticipate spreading of droplets from one person to another when she or he sneeze or cough which potentially transmit the virus to the people around her/him.
A healthy person does not mean she or he is unable to transmit the Covid-19. Healthy people may be carriers of Covid-19, so when they are sneezing or coughing it still has the potential to spread droplets that fall to the surface, such as plastic, iron, cloth or wood, to the people around it.
Prevent Corona through WFH
This campaign is supported by a number of companies in Indonesia that implement work from home (WFH) policies for their employees. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government noted that there were already more than 1,500 companies in Jakarta that implemented the WFH system to more than 517 thousand employees.
Mandiri Sekuritas also took part in preventing the spread of the Covid-19 through the WFH policy. Even though WHF is being implemented, customer services through Care Canter: 1 500 178 and care_center@mandirisek.co.id are still accessible as usual. Other than that, the digital service of www.most.co.id and the Mandiri Online Securities Trading (MOST) application for individual customers remain reliable. Through MOST service, customers simply can do investment-related activity from home, whether it is monitoring portfolio, trading, training and even asking questions interactively.
#DirumahAja means remain productive even earning something. The situation of the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) which is experiencing a bearish trend is certainly a good momentum to enter the market as an investor. Currently, investors can buy bluechip stocks at affordable prices.
For those who are interested to become a capital market investor, opening a securities account online through MOST is now easier. It only takes 10 minutes for Bank Mandiri savings account owner to fill in their data. Data completion process which previously required potential customer to come to Mandiri Sekuritas branch as well as bringing his/her hard copy documents, now is more practical with the new technology innovation.
Opening a securities account at Mandiri Sekuritas can be done by downloading the MOST application on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, or by accessing register.most.co.id. It only takes 3 easy steps to sign up: fill in personal data, upload the required documents (e-KTP, selfie with KTP, and NPWP), and legalize with digital signatures.
The faster online account opening service uses the latest technology of machine learning, such as optical character recognition (OCR) and facial recognition.
